dated 1985, 28in. nitro barrels (choke reproof in 2017) with ventilated tapered matt top-rib, 2 3/4in. chambers, Teague multichokes (with spares), three-piece fore-end with wooden side fillets, quadruple-grip action with side bolsters, manual safety, hand-detachable lockplates with concealed flush release lever, cocking-indicators, articulated front trigger, repaired fracture to rear trigger, the action and furniture profusely engraved with bold Germanic scrollwork, the lockplates carved with detailed woodland scenes of hound flushing pheasant on the left and a bird of prey attacking duck on the right, the underside signed 'MERKEL FRERES' in a scrolling banner, 14 1/2in. well-figured stock including wooden buttplate, weight 7lb. 8oz.
